Because Books

Our mission is to create children’s picture books that are wonderful and inspiring.

Because Books are silly and daft. Children are natural surrealists with a taste for the fantastical and often come up with the best ideas themselves.

Because Books show characters that inspire positive behaviour – they’re not naughty or anxious, but kind, resourceful and honest.

Because Books are heartfelt, thoughtful and rich with ideas, without being preachy or hard to grasp.

Because Books are a kid’s best resource for enjoying and navigating the world.

Because books matter.

Behind the Stories

About the Author

Adam lives in Guernsey, is a husband and father and loves to write silly stories for kids.

When Saturday Got Lost in the Sofa

Do you remember what happened last Saturday?

The Todd family don’t. They seem to have lost Saturday. They just can’t remember what happened that day at all. Then Dad suggests the only possible place they might have lost it: down the back of the sofa. But everyone knows that all sorts of things end up in the sofa. When Mum, Dad, Tom, Toby and Tabitha start digging around in there, a chaotic adventure ensues, involving a trombone, a unicycle and a very confused goat.

You know what a laughter car is, don’t you?

Dad has just bought himself a Ferra-ha-ha-hari. It’s a laughter car – it runs on laughter instead of petrol. But when Dad wants to enjoy it by himself first, he runs out of laughs and breaks down in the middle of the high street. So the rest of the family – Mum, Tom, Toby and Tabitha – must come to his rescue, armed with some tickling sticks, a sponge cake and some truly terrible jokes.

The Laughter Car

Arriving soon: The Breakfast Train

A magical, moving story about holding on, letting go and growing up, told with simplicity, elegance, coal and plenty of steam.
